Setting Standards - time to put a stake in the ground!

We, here at iwantaspeaker.com, decided that it is time to create a professional standard for being a speaker.

Currently there is no such system.

There is loads of talk among speakers and people who use speaking to increase their business as to what fees they should charge, what product they should create, what structure they should use, what info should they give to a client and how they should conduct the business with the client.

The T&Cs are often copied from another speaker, and even bureaus T&Cs don't give much cover....

Some speakers come with long complicated Riders, while others assume you know what they need without actually telling you.

And how do you know if they are any good or what happens when they've not done a good job and you've had to pay them upfront because you had to sign their T&Cs and the small print says they get to keep it all?

By putting a stake in the ground and creating a speaker management process that only allows speakers who have at least the minimum experience and a relevant topic can sign up to, you will quickly see if who you are booking will be able to at least deliver on their subject.

Because we built into the iwantaspeaker.com speaker management system profesionally drawn up T&Cs which properly covers both the speaker and the person booking them equally, there is no-one sided bias and therefore time saved on having to run through your legal department each time you need a speaker.  We also built in proper contract generation and invoicing so again, it's not leaving you reliant on just an email and a follow up invoice should anything go wrong. And as for the fee, should you have to pay a speaker, we provide an Escrow Account so you pay into that and the speaker knows it's there and can relax, but also knows they still have to deliver in order to get it.

Our system is pretty much how a Speaker Bureau booking agency works on your behalf...

You are now at long last in control.

By using our process, you can even put your CEO through it.  And if your CEO can't get through it, it means they may not be the best person to represent your organisation for that occasion.  Just think - you might know they are not the right person, but telling your CEO without any proof - well... you might as well sack yourself.  However, if you want to do the best for your audience and the event, then use our system.  If they are not already listed in the Speaker Directory on the site, tell us who you want to book and we'll do the rest to get them listed.  We'll call them,  get them through the process,  or  our system will professionally let them see for themselves that they might need to reconsider their traditional 2 hour speech down to perhaps only 15 mins if at all....

Or... if you want to use a Speaker Bureau to book a speaker - use our system and find out if they truly do manage the speaker as they say they do or if they are actually a middle guy because only the true agent would be able to register their speaker on this system - which saves you time and money in the long run because, and this is a big insight, not every bureau website stating they manage Mr World Famous actually does and you pay a hefty commission just so they can go to the one that does....

And because even the most eloquent charmer can fill out forms, the one thing they can't do is bluff their way on stage infront of the audience, so we put in a Review section as part of the process. Speakers who are well aware that they have 'off days' are most unlikely to agree to sign up to a process that allows you to publicly Review them - think about it...  If you knew you wasn't a great speaker despite your website saying you are, would you join something that could expose your lie? No. And neither do they.

But what if the charmer signed up ignoring the Review section and you have a problem?  No problem - you can raise a Dispute and the system doesn't pay the speaker from the Escrow account until its resolved.

By working together, we can standardise a process for working and booking speakers which means they don't have to be someone who does nothing but speaks for a living, but it can include people who use speaking to raise profile of a company, a product or an idea.

Register and use our system to book your Speakers and let your audience know you subscribe to a minimum standard of professionalism of Speakers and give them the confidence that they won't have to suffer bad speakers, boring speakers or people who just simply don't show on the day.  Afterall, content is key when it comes to events and having the right content is a brilliant way to engage with your audience.  Make sure the content isn't letting you down and use iwantaspeaker.com to make sure it comes with a standard level of professionalism.
